Mobile blogging from Ethiopia

One thing that was missing in Ethiopia was the joy of being able to blog from mobile phones. Ethiopian Telecom has granted internet for SOME pre-paid phone numbers. This gives bloggers the opportunity to blog while sipping a cold one.
The configuration on mobiles is quite easy: just use 'etc.com' as access point and you're good to go.
Happy blogging as the cold ones keep coming!

  1. Glad to hear from you and find your cool blog. How can you manage to blog from Ethiopia using BlogSpot? It doesn't work 90% of the time, because of Ethiotelecom. my email is eweket@gmail.com.. please drop me email.

  2. Hi Ewket,

thank you for your kind words. To be honest, my blog is aimed at people living out of Ethiopia. Trying to put in my five-cents' worth about how we live, what our country is like etc.

Ethiopians living abroad are usual commenters on my blog. And most of all, people trying to do papers and a little research usually visit my blog.

I do know that there is a problem with Blogspot here, but there's always a way around any problem. :O)

Take care! And I will stay in contact!

    Deep Ethiopian.

  3. Hey, Liku.

I'm wondering if the picture at your recent Vitalwave blog post (March 17th) is taken by you, or where did you get it? I'd very much like to use the same picture myself.

I freelance as a blogger and article/content writer. The images that are on Vital Wave Blog (http://www.vitalwaveblog.com/) are all handled and managed by the blog owners. You will need to contact them for further information regarding them.

    Thank you for visiting!

  5. Nice conversation we have going here. I have always been curious about less popular countries such as Ethiopia. Why would a country have trouble with Blogger?

  6. Hi Jon Wilson,

first off: thanks for visiting my blog. Second, while I'm not an expert on the subject in my opinion it is not Blogger per se that there is access problems with but with the individual blogs and their topics or subjects.

But if you ask me about MOBILE blogging its simply because of the snail pace that the Ethiopian Telecom. Corp gives out. It's MADDENINGLY slow!

    Regards,

    Deep Ethiopian.
